What is the PACT Street Champion Scheme

The scheme amalgamates the Police Neighbourhood Watch and the Cleaner, Safer, Greener agenda all coming under the banner of PACT (Partners & Communities Together).

The Street Champion scheme is run by residents for residents.

You will be supported by the local Police, and will have contact via your resident Neighbourhood Beat Manager, (a Police Constable) and local Police Community Support Officers (PCSO).

There will be a clear system for accessing partner agencies such as local Housing Associations, Highways, local Councils and other services.

The Aim of the Street Champion Scheme

The aims of the scheme are to:

  1. Empower communities, by educating them to the opportunities and services available to them.
  2. Give residents the opportunity to take ownership of their communities.
  3. Improve environmental issues in those communities.
  4. To reduce crime and disorder issues in those communities.
  5. Increase participation in relevant projects improving cohesion thereby reducing crime and improving reassurance.

 

Responsibilities of a Street Champion

Street Champions will:

  1. Conduct regular street inspections.
  2. Act as a link between residents, the Police and other agencies.
  3. Monitor the neighbourhood for problems and alert agencies early for a quicker resolution.
  4. Look out for elderly and vulnerable neighbours.
