£10,000 worth of drugs seized in latest warrant

-Commnities praised for thier support

A joint police team led by North Devons Targeted Policing Team (TPT) assisted by Neighbourhood Beat Managers (NBM’s), Police PACT (Partners and Communities Together) Team, and Response Teams conducted a successful Misuse of Drugs Act warrant at Litchdon Street, Barnstaple on Wednesday 10th June.

This operation is the latest of a series of warrants served across northern Devon in direct response to intelligence received from local communities.

Three people were arrested on suspicion of Possession with Intent to supply both Class A and Class B controlled drugs believed to be Cocaine, Cannabis and Amphetamine estimated to be in the region of £10,000. All three persons are currently on Police Bail.

Sgt Mark Harper, Neighbourhood Support Sergeant for the Police said:

 “Drug dealers ruin lives, the impact of drug dealers on communities cannot be underestimated.   Not only are they feeding off vulnerable individuals with an addiction but the wider activity leads to increased levels of fear, and puts further pressure on our business community though increased retail crime at a time of national and local recession.” 

He added “We are taking a hard line on any drug dealing locally, and encourage communities to continue to report any suspicious behaviour as soon as you see it.”

Amanda Palmer, Community Safety Manager for Safer North Devon said:

 “Any resident believing they have potential drug dealing in their community should feel they could report it.  The Rat on a Rat campaign launched this week as part of National Tackling Drugs Week encourages residents to call Crimestoppers anonymously and in their words “tell us what you know not who you are”.  Crimestoppers in an independent charity who make sure that communities feel safe to report crime in their neighbourhood.”
