Anti Social Behaviour Leaflet designed by College Students.

Introductory statement.
Students from North Devon College were asked to help Safer North Devon produce a design brief for an Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) information leaflet suitable for young people aged 10 – 17 years of age.  The students were given a brief to consider a number of key points when designing the leaflet.

Students needed to consider using the following information as content for their leaflet:

They were also asked to look at key design factors such as images they would like to be used, typefaces and fonts and colour schemes for the leaflets.

A number of students came back with excellent design ideas and it was clear that by consulting with young people we gained a better understanding of what young people want to know about ASB.

Kate Morne ( ASB Officer)  said ”  The students have produced some excellent material for this leaflet it is clear they have carried out a lot of research on finding  out what young people want to know about ASB.” It is important that young people are aware of who can help them if they become a victim of Anti Social Behaviour.

Quote 2
Abi Mandeville ( Lecturer North Devon College)  “The first year students studying on Btec Public Services courses at North Devon College were pleased to meet Kate Morne and the police to find out more about anti social behaviour. The students then did their own research to design and produce their own leaflets summarising points that they considered to be the most pertinent. They gained from the experience by learning a lot, and discussing perceptions of young people and ASB, as well as being given autonomy to use their own skills and creativity to produce a final leaflet.

The students really enjoyed being involved in something bigger that just their studies and are very proud of themselves for making a difference to their community. It was great that Safer North Devon gave the students the opportunity to add their point of view to this process, and I am very pleased with the contribution they made “
