About Safer North Devon

Safer North Devon is the joint Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP), also known as the Community Safety Partnership (CSP) for both North Devon & Torridge districts. We are part of a national network of CDRPs, and are accountable to eight bodies: Devon County Council, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, North Devon Council, Devon Primary Care Trust, Devon and Cornwall Constabulary, Devon and Cornwall Police Authority, Devon and Cornwall Probation Service and Torridge District Council. Together we work on delivering solutions to reduce crime, fear of crime and anti-social behaviour.

The partnership has an operational team made up of local authority officers including a Community Safety Manager, Anti-Social Behaviour Co-ordinator, Project Officer and an Administrator.

Within North Devon and Torridge we currently have the following priority themed areas:

  • Alcohol Related Crime and Drugs
  • Anti-Social Behaviour & Behaviour that intimidates, hurts or offends
  • Violent Crime including Domestic Violence
  • Prejudice and Hate Crime
  • Youth Crime Prevention

We aim to act as a facilitating body to support partner agencies in addressing these issues.

  • Safer North Devon is an example of a long-standing effective partnership. In place since 1998, this partnership has tackled emerging problems head on and challenged us all to think in new and innovative ways to achieve maximum impact.
  • Safer North Devon is part of the Safer Devon Partnership (SDP) which is a Devon-wide partnership delivering Safer Stronger Communities outcomes under the Devon Local Area Agreement (LAA).

We are continually evolving to meet new government agendas and changing local needs, but always remain focused on reducing crime, fear of crime and anti-social behaviour.
